The atmosphere of Sunday’s commemorative service was somber, but there was also an air of peace.
Former President Bill Clinton and Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin were among several speakers to address the crowd of nearly one thousand people.
“You have reminded us that we should all live by the Oklahoma Standard,” President Clinton said.
Survivors of the Oklahoma City Bombing and the relatives of the departed read the 168 names of the men, women and children killed in the attack on the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building on May 19, 1995.
The "Oklahoma Standard" was a recurring theme at the service, and celebrates the altruism and resilient spirit of Oklahomans during that dark moment in history and beyond.
Hundreds more were injured when Timothy McVeigh detonated a truck bomb in front of the building, which housed numerous federal agencies.
The Oklahoma City Memorial and Museum now stands in its place.
