Greek yogurt on permanent school menus this fall

Contract gone to Chobani, based in New York

Greek yogurt may be offered to students as a meat substitute in public school lunches this fall.

And officials with the Agriculture Department announced Monday that the contract for this food service has gone to Chobani, which is based in New York.

The USDA decided in April to include Greek yogurt as a permanent option in its school lunch program after classifying it as an approved meat substitute in 2013.
