Hogs for Service Dogs Poker Run takes off Saturday

Non-profit turns shelter dogs into heroes

Registration began at 9 a.m. on Saturday in the Fontana Shopping center at 51st and Memorial for the Glad Wags Service Dogs annual Poker Run fundraiser.

Riders will take a route through scenic northeast Oklahoma and end at the American Legion Hall Post 1, at 8th and Peoria in Tulsa.

Entry Fees are $25 per motorcycle or car and $10 for each additional rider with them. The first rider will leave at 10 a.m., with the last rider to head out at 11:30 a.m.

Attendees will also be able to meet some of the service dogs at the after party.

An after party will be held at the American Legion Hall Post after the ride, with food, beverages, over 50 raffle items and family friendly activities.

A Distinguished Service Dog award will be awarded to the dog that has gone above and beyond in the call of duty.

Glad Wags Services dogs is a Non-profit organization that rescues dogs from shelters in Oklahoma, Kansas and Arkansas and trains them for Diabetic Alert, Seizure Alert, Autism assistance, PTSD and stability/balance. The dogs are then paired with people living with a disability.
