Tornado Watch issued for Tulsa County

Several surrounding counties are included

(TULSA) - The National Weather Service in Tulsa has issued a Tornado Watch for Tulsa, Creek, Okmulgee, Osage, Pawnee and Wagoner counties until 9:00 Sunday night.

The first round of strong thunderstorms shifted to the east of Tulsa Sunday afternoon.

Additional thunderstorms are expected to spread back into southeast Oklahoma from the south by mid to late afternoon.

Flash flooding is still a concern with several days of recent rainfall.

Meteorologists with the National Weather Service in Tulsa say hail the size of golf balls and winds up to 70mph are possible.

Some areas already have up to 10 inches of heavy rainfall over the past few days.

The chance of thunderstorms continues until Monday morning.

Most of Monday and Tuesday should be dry.

The severe weather threat picks back up Tuesday night.

The StormCenter is staffed and ready to activate if warranted.
