Update: Homes evacuated in Sapulpa due to flooding

Flood sirens went off around 4:50 a.m.

Update: High water near Water Street and Washington Avenue have some families trapped inside their homes.

Some houses also have water inside of their homes due to flooding.

Emergency responders are evacuating people from high water areas.

We've learned Sapulpa police officers and firefighters went door-to-door early this morning, after flood sirens went off.

We're told the sirens were sounded around 4:50 a.m.

Police tell us the decision to sound the sirens was made after area creeks began to overflow. The flood water was getting dangerously close to homes.

This was especially true for any homes near Rock Creek.

As of 5 a.m. Sunday morning, evacuation wasn't mandatory. Still, residents were told to keep an eye on the flood waters and evacuate to higher ground if they felt threatened.
