Driver allegedly tries to hit Tulsa officer

Suspect ended up crashing the vehicle

A Tulsa officer is lucky to be okay after investigating an area where they have seen a lot of car burglarizes.

Officers arrived at the area of 31st and Memorial around midnight .  They had received a tip about possible vehicle burglars being in the area.

Police say a man was ordered to stop.

He didn't get very far.

"The person instead backed up rapidly, turned the vehicle quickly and the officer had to move out of the way to avoid being struck," police said.

"That person did continue out of the parking lot and struck a sign at the motel," police said.

The suspect was then taken into custody for assault with a deadly weapon.  A second suspect was also taken into custody for unrelated warrants.

While no car burglary arrests were made, police say they were able to gather helpful information for future use.
