Dog escapes home, finds owner having cancer treatment at hospital

Dog had never been to the building

“We looked up and there was this dog that was just running across the lobby,” Security Officer Samantha Conrad chuckled.

The dog was a miniature schnauzer named Sissy, and she had a goal. Sissy was looking for, and found, Nancy Franck. KCRG reports Franck was in Mercy hospital for two weeks while being treated for uterine cancer.

Nancy’s husband Dale said the family never took Sissy to the hospital, so they can’t figure out how she knew where to go.

Once Sissy’s mission was clear hospital staff decided to let her visit Nancy. It did them both good.

"She missed mom" Nancy's daughter Sarah Wood told the station. "She missed mom and she knew to come and see mom."

“I’m glad she thought of it,” Nancy beamed. “That was great just being able to see her.”
