Confirmed tornado touches down in Oklahoma

Eastern Oklahoma wasn't the only part of the state to get hit hard by storms on Saturday.

National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado did touch down in southwestern Oklahoma.

"Around 5:30 p.m., a fairly large tornado touched down near Elmer in southwest Oklahoma, in Jackson County," NWS says.  "The tornado remained on the ground for quite some time."

There have been no reports of any serious injuries.  Newsok.com reports several buildings near Elmer were damaged.

As of early Sunday morning, the tornado hasn't been given an official rating.
