Coach found dead after rape charges

The victim is 17-year-old

(SAPULPA, Okla.) - The head softball coach and assistant baseball coach at Sapulpa High School was found dead Thursday.

Creek County District Attorney Max Cook says it appears Brad Evans committed suicide, but a specific cause of death had not been confirmed.

Just a few hours before he died Evans was charged with two counts of second-degree rape.

Sapulpa Superintendent Kevin Burr says the 38-year-old was fired Tuesday after school leaders were told about the rape investigation.

Cook says the charges against Evans will now be dismissed because of his death.

Evans was charged with drug possession in 2005.
