The iconic Discoveryland outdoor theater in Sand Springs closed down a few years back in 2011 and has shown no signs of returning.
The amphitheater was famous nationally and worldwide for its production of ‘Oklahoma!’ the musical.
KRMG has learned financial issues led to the closure and it looks as though there is no hope for a reopening.
Hardin writes on his page that he wants to create something similar to bring the musical back to the Tulsa area.
One local man is trying to make a difference, though. Derek Hardin has created a GoFundMe account to raise money.
“There must be some investors out there who can envision what a great opportunity building and creating a new outdoor amphitheater home for this loved and cherished Tulsa summer family tradition would be.” Hardin writes.
