TULSA, Okla. — Using exercise and support a group called Fit First Responders is aiming to help people who have served our country.

Fit First Responders is a program that’s been helping police and EMTs in Tulsa since 2015. The organization have already supported over 4,000 people dealing with fitness and trauma on the job. They are now reaching out to help veterans too.

“You served our country and now it’s time for us to serve you,” said Coach JC.

The program is run with the support off veteran organizations across Green Country, including Eagle Ops.

The idea is to support people who’ve served, through exercise and help veterans who are facing problems including isolation, post dramatic stress and brain injuries.

Stacy Hester is one of the co-founders of Eagle Ops, he’s a Marine Corps Veteran, serving eight years and signed up to the program too.

“It’s going to change lives,” Hester said. “We’re losing more to suicides than we are on the battlefields internationally as well as combined training elements around the worlds with our service members yeah it’s 22 possibly even more suicides a day it’s the battle for home but we can win that battle together.”

They’re kicking things off with a 12 week challenge, which includes workouts, nutrition coaching, support and personal development.

It’s called Fit for Duty Fit for Life. The program is run on donations and you have a week to sign up if you want to get involved.
