Giant drones could beam internet service to remote areas

This might be the strangest drone yet.

Popular Mechanics reports a Japanese tech-giant, Softbank, and a U.S. drone manufacturer, AeroVironment, are teaming up to make a massive, but lightweight, solar-powered ten-engine drone called the Hawk 30.

AeroVironment collaborated with NASA in the past to build a similar aircraft.

Facebook and Google both explored the same idea for a while and gave up.

The Hawk 30 can potentially fly for months, with the purpose of beaming a wireless internet signal to remote areas.

But the Hawk 30 is set for test flights soon.
