Fisherman survives getting bit by great white shark

A man in California survives an attack by a Great White Shark, partly because of the kind of bystanders that helped him.

They were two off-duty Monterey County Sheriff’s deputies, who were fishing on Pebble Beach when 25-year-old Grigor Azatian and his father came on shore and saw that Grigor's right leg was torn apart by the shark and that he was suffering from a huge loss of blood.

One of the deputies had been trained in emergency field medicine, applied a tourniquet, and called dispatch for help.

The father told officials that he had tried to call and radio for help earlier, but his equipment was not working.
