Cussing out loud makes you stronger

LONDON — Science has proven what we were already pretty sure was true.

Swearing out loud makes you stronger.

The British Psychological Society says researchers did two tests.

The other was a handgrip test.

One was a short, intense session on an exercise bike.

They found that participants who were swearing before the test had more power on the bike and more strength on the handgrip than those who didn't swear.

The only thing is, they’re not sure why.

They think swearing may stimulate the body's sympathetic nervous system, but they didn't see the other kinds of physiology changes you would expect to find if that were the case.

Earlier tests have shown that swearing also increases a person’s tolerance for pain.
