The man and his family were in a small boat when he leaned over the side to empty a bucket.
That’s when a nearly 16 foot long croc grabbed and pulled him from into the water.
His family tried to help but weren’t able to pull the 62-year-old back on board.
The Sydney Morning Herald reports one of the animals had "a quantity of human remains" inside.
Authorities at Australia's Kakadu National Park confirmed they killed two big crocs a mile from where the incident happened.
"It's unusual to have an attack like this at this time of year," Sergeant Andrew Hocking told ABC News in Australia.
"Attacks usually occur in the warmer months of the year when the crocs are more active, and they need more food."
Complicating matters is the fact Kakadu is in a remote area with little cell phone reception. It’s said the family were forced to drive two hours before they could report the incident.
