JENKS, Okla. — Jenks police arrested a man for injuring 11 students while they were on a school field trip.

According to a police report, Brandon Hattaway, 38, is accused of grabbing and hitting several kids who were on a merry-go-round at Veterans Park.

An officer responded to a call around 1 p.m. on Wednesday and when he arrived, he met students with Catoosa Public Schools and their teachers. The report says all the kids were in fourth grade, and they were being supervised by their teachers.

The kids also told police some of them were grabbed by the neck.

The police officer noticed some of the kids were injured. Hattaway is accused of approaching the kids and telling them to get off the merry-go-round. He reportedly started to grab some of them and throw them to the ground.

Hattaway was arrested and he’s facing charges for child abuse. Police confirm he is the parent of one of the students on the field trip.

The report adds Hattaway told officers multiple kids were getting on the merry-go-round, and it was getting too dangerous. He said he went over to get the kids off the playground equipment because they were piling up onto each other.
