Woman dies in Skiatook from apparent pit bull attack

SKIATOOK, Okla. — Osage County deputies say they discovered 28-year-old Rebecca McCurdy’s body at a Skiatook home during a welfare check June 19.

Deputies say McCurdy was supposed to be house sitting and taking care of the homeowners dogs.

The sheriff’s office says deputies observed things at the home indicating Rebecca was a victim of a dog attack.

Osage County Sheriff’s Office Investigators are investigating the incident as they await results from the Oklahoma State Medical Examiners Office.

Deputies say the homeowner claimed he raised pit bull dogs as a hobby and for sale. There were several pit bull dogs caged in the garage. One of the dog cages was toppled over and there were many signs of a dog attack visible.

The suspected vicious dogs were taken into custody and being held pending further investigation.

Funeral services Rebecca will be held at First Baptist Church in Maysville at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 24.
