Winds wreak havoc on Green Country

TULSA — Meteorologists with the National Weather Service tell KRMG that large wildfires are popping up from Oklahoma County all the way to the Kansas state line.

A fire weather warning is in effect until 8pm Friday night with wind gusts up to 45 m.p.h.

Around 20,000 PSO customers were without power by Friday afternoon.

Volunteer fire companies across central and northeast Oklahoma have been struggling to keep up with a number of wildfires.

Power poles all over the Tulsa area are snapped and traffic is stalled in several areas due to stoplights that aren’t working.

Some of them have gotten large enough that the heat signatures are visible from space, according to Brad McGavock at the National Weather Service Office in Tulsa.
