Weird sydrome causes man to brew beer in his stomach

Think of the cash you would save at a baseball game

The man repeatedly got drunk while maintaining he hadn’t had a drink.

So doctors got involved and put the guy in an isolated hospital room and monitored him for 24 hours.

Without touching any alcohol the patient's blood alcohol did rise dramatically.

That means the patient has an abundance of brewer's yeast in his stomach and when he eats carb-rich foods the yeast quickly fermented.

What they discovered was the man has Gut Fermentation Syndrome, better known as auto brewery syndrome.

One of the researchers put it more simply. “The man's intestinal tract was acting like his own internal brewery."

While it may sound like a great way to save money on beer those who suffer from it bring up several drawbacks.

One Texas man said it happened during a church service and even when he was driving.

Not such a good deal.

Doctors suggest a low carbohydrate diet and possibly anti-fungal meds to fight the problem and keep the undeserved hangovers at bay.
