Violent felon found with girlfriend, step-daughter

A violent felon is captured in Tulsa Wednesday night police say.

49-year-old James Steven Maxwell escaped from the Northeast Oklahoma Correctional Center in Vinita earlier in the day.  He was incarcerated for Assault and Battery on a Police Officer.

Members of the TPD Warrants Squad and Northern Oklahoma Violent Crimes Task Force tracked him down to an area near the Gilcrease Expressway.

Police say he was caught after a short foot chase where officers had to tazer him.  Even then, Maxwell continued to resist arrest, but was taken into custody.

Police believed Maxwell had ties to Tulsa, which is why he returned after escaping from prison.  35-year-old Stephanie Autumn Starr is listed by officers as Maxwell's girlfriend and step-daughter.  She was arrested for harboring a fugitive.
