VIDEO: Tornado wreaks havoc in small Oklahoma town

A number of buildings were destroyed or damaged when a tornado ripped through the small town of Spavinaw in northeastern Oklahoma early Thursday morning.

Remarkably, there were no fatalities or even serious injuries, especially surprising considering the hour at which the storm struck and the fact that no tornado sirens sounded, according to residents.

Several school buildings took heavy damage, making it doubtful they could be reopened any time soon.

He says his house remains structurally sound, and told KRMG at the scene that someone was trying to arrange for a crane to lift the trailer off of his house.

One man, Mike Dollard, watched in shock as a mobile home sitting next to his house was lifted off the ground and deposited right on top of his home.

A number of residents gathered at a small convenience store just outside town told KRMG no tornado sirens ever sounded, and that as far as they knew, they don't even work.

"Make sure and get that story out," one man asked our reporter, adding he wants the sirens fixed.
