Update: Police release the name of man shot in the head

He slammed into the side of the Corner Café near 53rd and Peoria

Updating the very latest on a man shot in the head, causing him to crash into the Corner Cafe Friday morning.

Tulsa police say 44-year-old Stephen Moran was transported to an area hospital around 3:20 a.m. with life threatening injuries.

As of early Saturday morning, Moran is still alive, but police say "the prognosis is not very good."

The victim, a 45-year-old white male, was hit by a bullet in the back of the head.

Original: At first, police thought they were working an automobile crash, but after taking a closer look, they realized they had a shooting on their hands.

Police say they found a bullet hole in the rear window of the car.

They have not released the name of the victim.

The shooting occurred some time between 3:30 and 4:00 a.m. in the 5300 block of S. Peoria Avenue.

Police hope someone who may have seen or heard something will come forward with information.

At this point, they admit, they have very little to go on in the investigation.

As of late Friday afternoon, the victim was still alive but considered to be in critical condition.

Police were still analyzing the evidence to determine whether the shooter was in another vehicle or standing nearby, and what kind of weapon was used.
