Update: Escaped convict from Adair County jail back behind bars

Carlos Locust surrendered last night

Update

A convicted killer broke out of jail late Sunday in Adair County, Oklahoma, triggering an intense manhunt.

The other prisoner, Michael Pack, was recaptured shortly after the jailbreak within blocks of the jail, but Locust remains at large.

Sheriff David Hardin tells KRMG Carlos Locust, 25, and a fellow inmate overpowered a guard about 10:30 p.m. Sunday.

Locust is a convicted murderer, and was awaiting transport to the Department of Corrections when he escaped.

He is considered extremely dangerous.

He's described as an Indian male, 6 feet, 2 inches tall, weighing 220 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Sheriff Hardin says his head is shaved.

Anyone who spots him is urged to call the Sheriff's Office at 918-696-2106.
