Two thousand Americans die from cold weather each year

Report: Hurricanes, tornadoes, heat waves 'get more publicity'

The most deaths from natural causes do not come from hurricanes, tornadoes and heat waves.

A report from the Centers for Disease Control finds that weather kills at least 2,000 Americans each year.

Nearly two-thirds of the deaths are from the cold.

One of the report's authors says hurricanes, tornadoes and heat waves "get more publicity, for some reason, than cold-related deaths."

That may surprise some people, the researchers acknowledge.
