It was back to work Tuesday morning for two of the eight Tulsa firefighters injured while fighting a three-alarm blaze that gutted the Tulsa School of Arts and Sciences.
Alec Ridener and Petey Revels both suffered burns in the September 5th inferno.
Alec tells KRMG that he couldn't wait to get back to work.
A pair of explosions occurred shortly after fire crews arrived on the scene and began an interior attack.
"I'm glad to be back here. I'm excited to be back. It feels great. It's what I want to do."
Ridener and Revels were the first two firefighters released from the hospital.
Ridener says he didn’t really learn anything new about himself but, “I learned a ton about the guys and girls I work with and the way they came together and supported each other. On scene, everybody was looking out for each other. They were more worried about the person next to them than they were themselves."
If you think Ridener and his band of burned brothers were having any second thoughts that perhaps they’d chosen the wrong profession, think again.
"I think the other seven guys that were with me....we're all on the same page. This is what we signed up to do and the citizens of Tulsa pay us to do this. We're ready to do it and we're glad to be back," Ridener said.
