An investigation is underway into the deaths of a man and a girl who were hit by a train Sunday while fishing from a railroad bridge in rural southwestern Virginia.
An 8-year-old boy who was with them survived by dropping through the rails which are some 30 feet above the river.
The railroad says the man and the 7-year-old girl tried to stand off to the side, but were still hit.
