Tulsa’s drinking water tastes better than the rest.
Tulsa's water won the taste test competition at the annual Southwest Section of the American Water Works Association conference in Little Rock, AR, last week.
Because it won, Tulsa gets to represent the AWWA Southwest Section in a national competition at the 2014 National AWWA Conference in June.
Those plants supply more than 100 million gallons of water daily to Tulsa customers and to several neighboring cities and rural water districts.A.B. Jewell Plant Superintendent Stefanie Hunter said credit for the win goes to Tulsa’s water plant employees. “We are fortunate to have an experienced and knowledgeable staff that can detect changes in raw water quality and react quickly to adjust treatment processes to ensure that the water leaving the plants consistently exceeds regulatory standards.”
Tulsa gets its water from Spavinaw Creek and from Lake Oologah and processes it at two treatment plants, Mohawk and A.B. Jewell.
