Tulsa police respond to the Boston Marathon bombings

Chief Jordan assures citizens TPD is ready

With the bombings in Boston today many are worried about security in Tulsa. The Tulsa police released the following statement today regarding safety in and around the area.

The Tulsa Police Department, as is all of America, is horrified by the events in Boston today. The citizens of Tulsa can rest assured that we are assessing any possible impact on the Tulsa area. We have been in constant contact with appropriate intelligence agencies since the events occurred to determine if there are any national or local Tulsa implications to the Boston incident.

At this time, there does not seem to be any threat to Tulsa or any other location but we will continue to monitor the situation. We will continue assessing any anticipated crowd events in Tulsa as well. Since 911 we always consider any possible terrorist activity at large gatherings and we will continue to do so.

Chuck Jordan Chief of Police

The men and women of the Tulsa Police Department are committed to keeping our citizens safe. We will use any and all resources at our disposal to ensure that safety. As always, we ask for the help of our public. If you see something, say something.
