Tulsa, Green Country slammed by snow

Roads and highways quickly turned treacherous Sunday morning

Heavy snowfall disrupted life in Green Country Sunday throughout the Tulsa metro area.

Roadways quickly became snowpacked and treacherous as the snow moved into the area from the southwest.

KRMG reporters saw multi-vehicle wrecks in several areas of town.

Traffic lights were knocked out at several major intersections, and a car smashing into a power pole led to a power outage affecting about 1,400 PSO customers in Broken Arrow.

South Tulsa seemed to suffer the bulk of the wrecks, especially in hilly areas.

People texted photos of the snow and the roads from all over eastern Oklahoma to KRMG at 95920.

Some showed idyllic winter scenes, pets playing in the snow, and snowpacked roads throughout the area.

Tulsa police reported dozens of wrecks, several involving injuries, but KRMG has not learned of any fatalities.
