TSA holds up Chewbacca for lightsaber shaped walking cane

Actor needs cane to walk

Peter Mayhew is a big man. He had to be to play the iconic character Chewbacca in the original Star Wars trilogy.

But Mayhew, who is better than seven feet tall tried to board an airplane in Denver with his large cane he was stopped briefly.

TSA agents said the cane which is shaped like a lightsaber was “unusually heavy.”

Mayhew was eventually allowed on the plane but there were grumblings that the agency felt pressure after Mayhew pointed out the situation on Twitter.

Mayhew tweeted about the incident saying "giant man need giant cane" and showing a picture of an agent holding the cane.

"Because of the unusual weight of the passenger's cane, a security officer alerted a supervisor. Less than five minutes later the passenger and cane were cleared to travel. Social media played no role in the determination.”

We hear the plane made the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs.
