The Transportation Security Administration is about to be just about everywhere, including concerts, rodeos, and even sporting events.
Just imagine getting the TSA patdown on your way in to see a big concert or game.
The agency was created to keep America’s skies safe after 911 but have since branched out to train stations and other transportation hubs as well.
Some are all for the new placement and security efforts, others are not so sure.
The New York Times reports teams called Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response have been in place for for several years with a budget of $100 million and of hundreds of employees.
"The problem with TSA stopping and searching people in public places outside the airport is that there are no real legal standards, or probable cause," said one opponent.
TSA administrator John Pistole counters by telling the New York Times “our mandate is to provide security and counterterrorism operations for all high-risk transportation targets, not just airports and aviation."
One security consultant checked in by saying the worry of finding the TSA in a place they aren’t expected may be what prevents a terror incident. "They introduce an unexpected element into situations where a terrorist might be planning an attack."
