A jury selected and seated, testimony began today in the trial of a man accused of gunning down and killing two people at a midtown Tulsa Best Buy.
The July, 2012 murders shocked the city because the crime was committed in broad daylight in a busy parking lot, but also because a stray round entered the store and killed a man as he stood next to his 10-year-old daughter.
That girl, now 12, is expected to be among the witnesses against Willie Wise, the man police say pulled the trigger that day.
Prosecutors have announced they do not intend to pursue the death penalty against the defendants.
His co-defendant, Jeremy Foster, will be tried separately.
The jury could recommend a life sentence, with or without parole if either man is convicted.
Laste last week, District Judge Bill Musseman announced he would allow prosecutors to present evidence that Wise was involved in gang activity.
The defense had argued that would prejudice the jury.
However, the State successfully argued that his gang involvement will help them prove the motive for the killing of one of the victims, Scott Norman.
The other victim was Graydon "Wes" Brown.
