TPS announces plan for missed snow days

District added more days this week

From Tulsa Public Schools:

As noted on the official calendar, traditional school sites will be in session on Friday, March 14, moving all planned parent teacher conferences for that day to evening times. (The make-up day for all Continuous Learning Calendar schools will be on April 7, which was originally scheduled for parent-teacher conferences).

To make up for Tuesday’s snow day, the early release day originally scheduled for Friday, April 4, will now be a regular full-day of instruction for all schools. The rest of the time will be made up by adding 12 minutes to the school day throughout the month of April. Bell times will return to normal beginning May 1.

“Although these changes are not yet board-approved, we feel it’s vital to get this information out to parents as soon as possible,” said Dr. Keith Ballard, superintendent. “We have taken into account feedback from parents and teachers alike and feel the recommendation we are making to the board is the best possible solution without adding more days to the end of the year.”

With the exception of the March 14 make-up day that was already planned for, these changes are pending approval by the Board of Education. They are expected to vote on the recommendation at the March 13 meeting.

The early release Friday for CLC scheduled for May 2 is unaffected by these changes.
