TPD officer charged with bribery and delivery of cocaine

Investigators say the crime happened in March

On Thursday, the Tulsa County District Attorney’s Office charged Tyrone Jenkins with five felony counts.

Prosecutors say Jenkins accepted $3,100 in bribes from an individual who was a part of a “sting” operation by the Tulsa Police Department.

Investigators believe in exchange for the cash, Jenkins provides confidential information from a police computer database.

First Assistant District Attorney Doug Drummond said, “The circumstance of charging a law enforcement officer who is sworn to uphold the law is disappointing on many levels. But, at the same time, whether a person is a law enforcement officer or not, he must be held accountable under the law.”

In addition, prosecutors allege that Jenkins attempted to deliver cocaine.

Each of the bribery charges carry up to 10 years in prison.

Each count of a violation of the computer crimes act carries up to 10 years in prison.

The drug charge carries a maximum of 22.5 years in prison.
