OCHELATA, Okla. — The town of Ochelata has had low water pressure or no water at all at various times in the past week.

Board member Terri Welch says they have had four different breaks in the 8-inch water line that feeds the town.

She says they have to then locate the break, dig to it and make the repair. Because of all that, people have been without water for hours.

To those in town who are frustrated she says, “I do not blame them, we’re frustrated as board members. We’re all frustrated.”

She says, “because of the weather, the heat, it’s just happened one after the other. It’s pretty hard on everyone here.” She says this is awful to see happening, with how hot it is outside. She understands people want to take a shower or flush the toilet after a long day at work.

Welch says they’ve tried to have the water on at night, so people can shower or flush their toilets at least for a short period of time.

Ochelata is grateful to the Chris Gailey American Legion Post 450, Walmart Distribution Center, the town of Ramona and more for all their help and donations. Around 300 pallets of water have been donated to Ochelata.

The city has them available at town hall. They’ve been trying to distribute them directly to the people who don’t have social media.

One great way to get updates on what’s happened is the Town of Ochelata Facebook Page. The water was back working by Monday morning.
