At least 14 people were killed near Little Rock and rescue workers are searching for more.
The number of tornado victims was 16 Monday morning. The number was revised to 14 Monday afternoon after two victims were counted twice.
One of the victims was in a storm shelter.
A 68-year-old man was killed near Quapaw Sunday night.
Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe says, “Some debris caved the door of the safe room in, but the house is totally gone and the only thing standing there is the safe room. But, the door is gone.”
Investigators say John Brown, of Baxter Springs, KS, and his wife were traveling through town when the tornado hit.
The couple pulled into a parking lot where a concrete wall fell on the car.
The wife was taken to the hospital and released.
Around 60 homes and businesses are damaged or destroyed and at least five people injured.
The tornado that struck around 5:30 p.m. Sunday destroyed Quapaw's fire station.
Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin has declared a state of emergency for Ottawa County.
The executive order allows state agencies to make emergency purchases on supplies.
