Three anti-abortion bills are sent to the Oklahoma governor’s desk

The bills are aimed at restricting abortion in different ways

OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma Senate approved several anti-abortion bills on Tuesday.

The bills require physicians who perform abortions to be certified in healthcare involving childbirth.

Senators also added performing abortions to the list of unprofessional conduct by doctors and prohibiting abortions if a fetal heartbeat is detected.

The measures now head to Republican Gov. Kevin Stitt, who has previously said he would sign any anti-abortion bills sent to him by the Legislature.

All three bills were passed mostly along party lines, with Democrats in opposition.
