TFD says fire that killed two children likely accidental

Firefighters say rumors that the fire was meth related are untrue

Tulsa fire officials say the cause of Monday's fatal apartment fire that killed two small children is likely accidental.

Capt. Stan May says firefighters are sill investigating but the fire was probably caused by a cooking fire in the kitchen.

A two-year-old and a six-year-old died in the fire. Two women who tried to get back into the smoke-filled apartment unit to rescue them were treated at hospitals.

According to May, firefighters responded to another fire at the same apartment complex in September. The cause was also believed to be an accidental cooking fire.

May says a third adult was also transported to the hospital for a medical condition unrelated to the fire.
