TFD: Fire contained at University Club Tower

Tulsa, Okla. — A discarded cigarette may be what started a fire at the University Club Tower apartment building Tuesday.

Tulsa fire investigators say the fire in the 32-story building at 1722 South Carson Avenue may have been the result of someone tossing a cigarette onto a plant container located on an apartment's balcony.

Firefighters had to climb the stairs to the 22nd floor where they could access water from an inside source to get the fire out.

Adfjacent apartments had smoke and water damage.

Part of the building was evacuated for safety while firemen kept most of the fire damage confined to only two apartments.

There were no reports of injury.
