Teen in skydiving accident to speak to media

A 16-year-old North Texas girl who last month plummeted more than 3,000 feet to the ground in an Oklahoma skydiving accident is set to speak at a news conference at a Dallas hospital.

On Thursday morning, Makenzie Wethington is set to make her first media appearance since the Jan. 25 accident at a Chickasha skydiving school. Her doctor at the Baylor Institute for Rehabilitation said last week that the girl was walking with assistance and is expected to fully recover.

She was transferred to the Dallas facility after spending about a week in an Oklahoma City hospital following the accident.

Her injuries included damage to her liver and a broken pelvis, lumbar spine in her lower back, shoulder blade, several ribs and teeth.
