The results were loud and clear. Women don’t like those scantily clad photos other ladies post.
"This is a clear indictment of sexy social media photos," study leader Elizabeth Daniels told The Daily Beast.
Daniels asked more than 100 women to rate the Facebook page of “Amanda Johnson.”
Each profile claimed Amanda liked Lady Gaga, Twilight and The Notebook. Women were then asked to rate Amanda on her physical attractiveness, likeability, and competence.
Amanda isn’t real. Daniels created the character and two Facebook pages for her. One shows a sexy, provocative Amanda while other portrays a more conservatively dressed young lady.
100% of the responses rated the less edgy Amanda higher in each category.
Daniels says the results should send a message to young women.
"We need to help youth understand this is a very public forum,” she began.
"There is so much pressure on teen girls and young women to portray themselves as sexy, but sharing those sexy photos online may have more negative consequences than positive.”
