Storm risk going up for Tulsa this week

The chance for storms is increasing for the latter part of the workweek, especially during the period from late Wednesday night going into Thursday morning, and then again on Thursday afternoon and Thursday night.

"Just kind of be advised that we do expect these storms to be kind of the typical late May variety, large hail and damaging winds the primary threats," said News on 6 meteorologist Travis Meyer.

Trav said there is a risk of a few tornadoes.

"That potential could move into eastern Oklahoma just given some certain parameters," Trav said.

He said most of that should stay west and northwest of the immediate Tulsa area, although there is a chance it could push eastward.

He said there will be a chance of storms each day starting tomorrow and continuing into the weekend, so Trav said to be especially careful if you plan on going out on area lakes.
