Unseasonably warm temperatures could mean Spring-like storms late Monday into Tuesday as a cold front moves into Green Country, and the contrast in air temperatures could kick off some severe weather.
It's unusual, but storms can happen anytime in Oklahoma and there is a good chance for isolated storms to pop up on Tuesday.
Robert Darby with the National Weather Service office in Tulsa tells KRMG a fairly strong storm system is moving out of the desert southwest that could spawn thunderstorms late Monday into Tuesday.
The best chance for severe weather will not be around Tulsa.
He says those storms could be severe with damaging wind and large hail.
Darby says, "The best chance for severe weather will probably be across far southeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. That would be in the Tuesday afternoon time frame."
There is a slight chance for severe weather around Tulsa late tonight into tomorrow morning.
He says there should be widespread rainfall across most of the area, which is good news for the drought-stricken region.
