Sportscaster Al Michaels arrested

Michaels stopped at DUI checkpoint

Michaels was stopped at a sobriety checkpoint near Santa Monica California Friday night.

While officers were talking to him, they noticed the smell of alcohol and decided to test the legendary broadcaster.

Al blew a blood alcohol level between .08 and .09, just at and above the California level for sobriety of .08.

Michaels currently works NFL games for NBC. The network's spokesmen Greg Hughes said "we are aware of the situation and we've been in contact with Al, we have no further comment at this time."

Michaels was arrested and taken to jail but was released Saturday morning.

Officers told TMZ that the man known for the timeless Miracle on Ice play by play call (below) was more than cooperative during the entire process.
