Seconds after President Obama began his gun control speech, social media reaction began pouring into KRMG.

In his speech, President Obama pushed for new ban on assault weapons, limit on magazine capacity, ban on armor-piercing ammo, tougher background checks plus other steps without congressional action as part of a comprehensive gun-violence proposal.

KRMG listeners texted into 95920.

Responses KRMG received included, "It's going to be like other countries where that has happened adn then only the bad guys will have guns. We won't be able to defend ourselves" and "10 round magasines or 50 round magazines... its not going to make any difference. They'll take enought guns or bullets or magazines to do whatever they are going to do."

Dozens also shared their thoughts with KRMG via Facebook.

Daniel says, "The arguments for gun ownership are rooted in facts, while the arguments for gun control are based on emotions. I'll stick with the facts any day."

David says, "That Constitution is always getting in the way of what Obama wants to do in saving our country. And that is why Obama and his ilk are doing their worst to get around it. THAT, my friends, is THE REAL PROBLEM."

One KRMG listener this reporter asked for an interview declines saying, "I'd love to but I'm too busy working to support the poor and less fortunate who can't afford guns or cell phones, but always seem to end up with them anyway."
