Labor Day started out nice and cool thanks to a storm system that moved through north of Tulsa, near the Kansas border.
The National Weather Service office in Tulsa told KRMG severe weather is likely late Monday afternoon and continue into Tuesday morning. Some storms may turn severe, with the largest threat being strong winds, up to 75 mph in some areas.
The KRMG StormCenter is staffed and ready should those storms turn severe. Text the word WEATHER to 95920 to get severe weather alerts sent to your phone.
“It’s looking less and less likely that we’re going to see an extended period of hot weather, let alone 100 degree temps.” Lacey said.
As for those hot temperatures, Meteorologist Mike Lacey with the National Weather Service says the worst may be over.
The humidity will stick around for a few more weeks though, look for things to turn cooler and more pleasant around mid-September.
