Severe storms could hit Tulsa, mainly on Saturday

The threat of storms begins Friday afternoon, but the greatest chance is on Saturday.

News on 6 meteorologist Travis Meyer says the main threat with the storms will be hail.

"The rain is good, but there is a chance of a few severe thunderstorms in western Oklahoma," Travis said.  "Tomorrow it looks like central and eastern Oklahoma will have a chance of strong to severe thunderstorms."

"So we'll be tracking the storms across eastern Oklahoma tomorrow afternoon," Travis said.

He said any storms that form will have the chance of hail and damaging winds.

Travis says there's a 40 to 50 percent chance of storms this afternoon, and it goes up to a 70 to 80 percent chance late tonight and tomorrow.
