Seth Meyers leaving Saturday Night Live for Late Night

Will replace Jimmy Fallon

Meyers rise to stardom accelerated quickly when he took over the Weekend Update desk at Saturday Night Live seven years ago.

The head of NBC entertainment Bob Greenblatt said “we think Seth is one of the brightest, most insightful comedy writers and performers of his generation.”

Meyers has been considered the natural choice and the person most likely to get the job since the news about Fallon’s move was announced.

The network confirmed that Meyers will continue on SNL through the fall and then begin work on his new role.

Commenting in his new gig Meyers said “12:30 on NBC has long been incredible real estate. I hope I can do it justice.”
