Sequester means cuts to Federal jobless benefits

People getting federal unemployment benefits will soon see those benefits cut because of sequestration.

Payments that are made from the federal Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) on or after March 31, 2013 will be reduced by 10.7%.

The Oklahoma Employment Security Commission says it will affect thousands of Oklahomans.

Generally speaking, people receiving money from the federal EUC have already exhausted their state benefits.

The sequestration cuts do not affect state unemployment benefits.
