Semi flatbed rolls, dumps nearly 20 tons of cinder block on I-244 near Utica Ave

The driver of a flatbed semi rolled on Interstate 244 near Utica Avenue Wednesday morning, dumping near 20 tons of cinder blocks onto the highway and creating a major traffic snarl.

Lt. George Brown of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol tells KRMG the driver swerved to miss a metal ladder that someone had apparently lost from a vehicle.

When he swerved, his load shifted and the truck overturned.

The inside (left) lane remains open westbound, but the outside lanes are closed.

Early in the incident, troopers say it will take hours to clean up the mess and get traffic flowing smoothly again.

Drivers are urged to avoid the area if possible.

No one was hurt in the incident.
